Consortium

EFONGA aims at co-ordinating European groups working in fundamental and applied pre-competitive research on science and technology of glass. The list of institutions involved as participants covers industries, institutes and academic laboratories, over a large number of European countries.

The groups involved in the project are already operative and they have co-operated for many years within the framework of the European Group of the International Commission on Glass. The present consortium has all the competencies and technical possibilities needed to achieve the expected results by co-ordinating the whole glass research in fundamental and applied science as well as in technology. Moreover, it is expected that  about 50 European laboratories from 20 European Union member and associated states will effectively collaborate to this action.

EFONGA is coordinated by a Steering Committee chaired by Dr. René Vacher, du Laboratoire des Colloïdes, Verres et Nanomatériaux (Unité mixte de recherche CNRS et Université Montpellier 2), France.
